The operation of a reflex reflectors
HELLA brand Reflex Reflector are especially useful at night or in conditions of poor visibility - during fog, heavy rain or snowfall. In such situations, a moving vehicle is not easy to see, and a parked one even more so. The auto reflector helps drivers in their cars to see another road user at a distance of about 150 meters. This helps the driver to orientate himself in time and make the required maneuver to avoid a collision - slow down, make a detour, and so on.
Light reflectors, as the name implies, reflect the light falling on them in a direction of 180 ° - back to the source. The work of these elements is based on the laws of optics: the plastic from which the components are made has a huge number of concave prisms of microscopic size. Due to this, light falling on any of the faces is reflected twice - from the first, and then the second. In both cases, this occurs at an angle of 90°, whereby the light is sent back in a parallel direction.
