If the car does not have an ECU, the need for sensors does not decrease. The output of even the least important of the sensors affects at least how comfortable the car will operate. The odometer sensor operation

When the AUTOMEGA brand Sensor, odometer is installed on a moving vehicle, it is able to measure the speed and distance traveled. It is also able to measure the speed and linear dimensions of passing vehicles, mobile devices, and structures. Oddly enough, but the most common and seemingly reliable speed detection systems do not tolerate driving with sudden increases in speed.
