When the oil seal dries out or is damaged, dust and sand mixed with engine oil enter the valve channels and the working cavity of the rotary assembly. This is fraught with wedging of the electromagnetic device and accelerated wear of the chambers and blades of the phase regulator itself. In this case, excessive clearance may occur, and even damage to individual parts of the device, which is responsible for changing the valve timing.
