All the warm return goes immediately (and only) to the filter (in a small circle) and dissolves the paraffin, preventing the filter element from clogging. At this time, there is a minimum intake of fuel from the tank (compensation for the spent fuel), and paraffin (almost) does not rush to the grid in the tank and also does not close it up.

The main purpose of this valve is to prevent the formation of too high pressure in the fuel system, because of which fuel hoses can break. In principle, the purpose of any valve is to ensure the movement of different fluids in the same main direction.
