The automatic transmission oil seal is an elastic part designed to eliminate possible gaps between the pan and the gearbox. The use of a oil seal allows, due to a snug fit, to prevent the ingress of lubricating fluids and impurities contained in them onto the mechanisms and components of the vehicle.

The operation of an automatic transmission oil seal

The oil seal is located in the car in the gap between the gearbox and the sump. This part prevents oil and the slurry it contains from entering the key components of the car, thereby preventing unpleasant malfunctions. Quite often, motorists neglect the use of oil seals in favor of sealant, which is far from the best solution.
