The FEBI BILSTEIN brand Rod Assembly is an integral part of the steering control, which is responsible for transferring forces from the steering wheel to the steering knuckles of the wheels. Its other function is to provide the required turning radius of the wheels.

The design of this device assumes the presence of steering tips on both sides, or a thread on one and a tip on the other end. Through the thread and the connecting sleeve, the hinges are aligned, forming an adjustable side draft. Thanks to the steering tips, the main components of the drive can be rotated in any plane. From above, the entire structure is covered with a special boot, which helps to significantly extend the service life of the steering rods.

The usage of the rod assembly

The fact that it is necessary to diagnose the steering rods is evidenced by increased play or beating of the steering wheel, the presence of extraneous sounds, the car wobbling from side to side, as well as sudden tight control.

If in the process of inspection malfunctions are revealed, then it is necessary to replace the tip with the hinge, the boot, or completely the entire rod assembly. It is recommended to change the rods at the same time as the handpieces, no matter what state they are in.
