The camshaft adjuster is a part attached to the valve-timing shaft, which serves to obtain torque from the engine crankshaft by means of a belt or additional adjusters (lower valve timing). This adjuster allows you to adjust the valve timing in relation to the working order of the cylinders. One engine can use one or more adjusters, depending on the number of valves per cylinder and the features of the engine layout.

The functions of the camshaft adjuster

The METZGER brand Camshaft Adjuster is a steel, cast iron or aluminum round piece with teeth on the outside. There is a mark on the body by which the valve timing is adjusted. For more precise settings, manufacturers offer split camshaft adjusters that allow you to change the phase angle by tenths of a degree - it is necessary for more precise tuning during tuning. Camshaft adjuster failures are associated with aging metal, improper timing belt installation and high operating loads. It is recommended to order the camshaft adjuster together with the timing belt drive, since a breakage or wear of the pulley could cause significant damage to the belt.
