The functionality of the accelerator pedal position sensor

At a time when fuel economy was not relevant, no one thought about ecology, and the dynamic characteristics of cars were improved by increasing the engine volume, a cable went from the pedal to the engine that controlled the position of the throttle valves and the fuel supply. The cables were torn, dirt, frost and rust jammed them in the braid, but they were relatively cheap and in some cases repairable.

Today, a computer controls the engine systems, and the driver only informs him of his wishes. For example, when the accelerator pedal is pressed sharply, the computer can give a command for a short-term, non-linear increase in power (ahead of time).
