The HERTH+BUSS ELPARTS brand Glow Plug starts working together with the engine start when the engine start key is turned. The time and mode of operation of the device is further controlled by an electronic circuit. The timing of the glow plug can be monitored by observing the yellow LED (spiral pattern) on the dashboard. As soon as the LED has stopped working, the engine can be started. There are separate systems where the glow plug continues to work for a certain period (up to 180 seconds). All this is done for smooth engine operation, rapid heating, and improvement of the environmental performance of the engine.

The glow plug construction

Since the large size of the plug can interfere with the movement of the fuel mixture, they have a very modest size (diameter 5-6 mm). The contact rod is sealed with special rubber or silicone based sealant.

The spiral is made of nickel, iron-chromium or iron-chromium-aluminum alloys, and the base is made of iron-chromium-nickel alloy. They are connected to voltage in two ways - single-pole, where the case plays the role of a negative conductor, and two-pole, where each leads separately.
