The ballast is an interesting element of the car's on-board electrical system, which is installed on vehicles with a gas discharge lamps. It makes no sense to connect such lighting directly to the car's on-board electrical network - it will not work without a special device.

At the same time, the main task of the ballast is to increase the voltage from normal to high values - gas discharge lamps require a very high ignition voltage and increased, relative to the standard 12, 24 V, voltage to maintain further work.
