The controls in modern cars are placed in the steering column switch with the help of various auxiliary devices. It is a special assembly, represented by levers, and mounted directly under the steering wheel, on the steering column. Steering column switches are used to control electrical appliances, as well as vehicle systems used when driving.

The functions of wiper switch

After the first patented windshield wipers were still operated manually, it wasn't long before electrical engineering took over this task. In addition to the corresponding wiper motor, relays and switches are also required for this. Like every relay, a wiper relay closes the load circuit via a control circuit, i.e. as soon as the driver actuates the steering column switch or the METZGER brand Wiper Switch for the windshield wipers, current can flow to the wiper motor. The electrical energy is converted into kinetic energy and the coupled wiper linkage moves. The wiper arms are driven finally via the wiper linkage. In addition to this simple switch function, wiper switches offer the option of activating specified interval switching. The driver simply selects a wiper level and the relay opens and closes the circuit to the wiper motor in the set time cycle.
