The usage of the transmission oil
Gear oil can be of several types:
- Automatic transmission oil;
- Oil for manual transmission.
Although these types of lubricants are not interchangeable with each other, the use of automatic transmission fluid in mechanics is quite acceptable, but on the contrary, (fluid for manual transmission in an automatic transmission) pouring oil into the gearbox is prohibited.
Changing the lubricant in the gearbox is strictly regulated by the car passport. Of course, if the car uses a maintenance-free transmission, then there may not be data on the oil in the gearbox. Also, automakers do not make allowances for vehicle mileage and operating conditions.
