The principles of the manual transmission cable

The cable drive in gearboxes has several advantages. The gearbox and engine generate less vibration that is transmitted to the car body. By itself, the cable can dampen vibrations transmitted through the traction link of the unit. It also eliminates small vibrations that would otherwise be transmitted to the clutch pedals and even to the seats.
