The EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve helps to reduce the amount of harmful substances in the exhaust gases. It recirculates part of the gases leaving the engine by feeding them back into the intake manifold. The engine can burn them again, thereby reducing the level of emissions of harmful substances.

However, most often problems in operation arise due to clogging of the element, so car owners are advised to periodically blow out the pipe. Specialists often carry out replacement of the element. To meet environmental standards, most engines must have an exhaust gas recirculation system. If the EGR valve fails, the vehicle will most likely fail to pass the environmental test, and therefore the EGR pipe will need to be replaced anyway.
