The EXEDY brand Clutch Pressure Plate (basket) connects and disconnects the flywheel and driven plate, causing the clutch to engage or disengage. The efficiency of the entire clutch system depends on the good condition of this part.

On one side, the plate is attached to the flywheel, and on the other, it contacts the release bearing with a return spring. It is made of high-strength steels, cast iron or soft metal ceramics.

The basket includes the following structural elements: pressure plate, diaphragm spring and casing.

The functionality of the clutch pressure plate

When the clutch is disengaged, the pressure plate presses on the driven one, pressing it against the flywheel. When the clutch is engaged, it releases the clutch disc, which begins to rotate. The diaphragm spring provides sufficient force to align the flywheel and disc, thereby transmitting torque. In appearance, it resembles petals, on which the release bearing presses from the outside. From the inside, the spring is attached to the casing by bolts with support rings.
