In order for internal combustion engines to operate with little wear, they must be lubricated. Part of the oil required for this burns out due to the large amount of heat generated and must be removed from the oil using a suitable filter. Metal debris and other dirt is also trapped by the oil filter. The oil filter is housed in a matching oil filter housing which is sealed with a finely fitted cap and appropriate seal. Oil must not leak from the circuit, both to ensure constant lubrication of the engine and to protect the environment.

The functionality of an oil filter housing
