The shock absorber bushing functions as silent blocks in the car's suspension. It insulates the body from various vibrations and noises that arise directly during movement. Shock absorber bushing:

1. protects suspension elements from wear;
2. stabilizes the location of the suspension guide elements;
3. provides a stable connection between the suspension and the vehicle body.

The shape of the bushings is quite varied. It depends on the design features of a particular car brand. As a rule, bushings are devoid of metal elements. Therefore, their service life is limited and short-lived. The bushings are considered a consumable when servicing the suspension.

All suspension elements are in contact with the car body through bushings. During operation, knocking and squeaking often occurs. This is due to damage to the stabilizer struts, leaf springs, linkage, and bushings. When replacing such parts, the seats must be cleaned of dirt, rust, remnants of old bushings without fail. Next, the worn out fasteners are replaced. New bushings must be lubricated before installation. This will extend their lifespan.
