To damp the jerks and vibrations that occur when the timing chain is started on the chain, a special device called a damper is used. Without it, the chain could break off the corresponding gears and break. Typically, a break occurs when the crankshaft rotational speed is at its maximum. Moreover, the chain breaks off so quickly that there is simply no chance to react to it in a timely manner and turn off the engine.

The importance of the timing chain guide

The FEBI BILSTEIN brand Guides, timing chain damper is the simplest plate made of high quality carbon steel. The product has two mounting holes. There is also a second element of this design. It is called the hydraulic tensioner shoe. This structural element is located under the cover of the corresponding mechanism. To prolong the life of the product, the side exposed to high mechanical stress is coated with a high-strength polymer. To replace the damper, the cover is removed, the tensioner roller is loosened.
