Thrust Washers - TW 204AM KING ENGINE BEARINGS

Normal engine operation is possible only if its crankshaft does not have significant axial displacement - backlash. The stable position of the shaft is ensured by special parts – thrust washers.

The thrust washers of the crankshaft (support half rings, crankshaft washers, half rings of the crankshaft thrust bearing) are special sleeve bearings in the form of half rings that set the working axial displacement (play, clearance) of the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine.

According to the material of manufacture, half rings are:

1. Solid bronze;
2. Steel-aluminum - an aluminum alloy is used as an antifriction layer;
3. Sintered metal - bronze-graphite spraying is used as an antifriction layer.

Today, the most widely used steel-aluminum and sintered thrust washers, and often they are installed in one engine from different sides of the support journal.

The principle of the thrust washer's usage

In this case, two or four thrust washers are used. In the case of two KING ENGINE BEARINGS brand Thrust Washers, they are mounted in the grooves of the lower bearing cover (yoke). In the case of four thrust washers, they are mounted in the grooves of the lower cover and upper support. Also, there are engines with only one thrust washer.
