The manual transmission flange shaft seal is a sealing part, an annular cuff-type component located on both sides of the wheels, which allows them to transmit torque from the differential to them. Seals serve to ensure the tightness of the place where the splines of the inner section of the axle shaft and the differential are connected.

The functionality of a shaft seal

The axle shaft of any car transmits torque from the differential or gearbox to the drive wheels. Therefore, it also has another name - the drive shaft. Any semi-axle is fastened with one end in the gearbox or differential, and its other end is fixed in the wheel hub.

For good sliding of the axle shaft, a bearing is installed in the hub, for the rotation of which gear oil is used. It lubricates the bearing, because otherwise, during movement, the part will begin to heat up very much and, as a result, will burst or crumble.
