The principles of the ignition coil work

From time to time, this voltage is cut off by the breaker, causing a sharp reduction in the magnetic field and the formation of electromotive force in the turns of the coils. In the secondary coil with a large number of turns, a high voltage pulse is generated, which is fed through high voltage wires (not applicable to an individual ignition coil installed directly on the spark plug) to the ignition coil. The impulse transmitted by the coil creates a spark between the electrodes of the spark plug, which ignites the air / fuel mixture.
