Shaft Seal Set, engine - 289008 CORTECO

The CORTECO brand Shaft Seal Set, engine is a sealing device for the shaft that prevents engine oil from leaking out of the engine. The front and rear oil seals differ in size (thickness, diameter) and material of manufacture. The front one fails more often, but it is also much easier to replace.

The usage of a shaft seal set

The reasons for the failure, in addition to the exhaustion of the working resource, may be mechanical damage, rupture or “extrusion” (occurring in the process of strong squeezing of the part, which leads to its deformation). To prevent this malfunction the appropriate set is used.

The material of manufacture must be heat-resistant, since the part is very hot during operation. Another factor affecting the replacement of shaft seals is the untimely oil change. If the oil is changed infrequently, the oil filter becomes clogged and needs to be replaced, the wrong oil is used, frequent engine overloads occur - all these factors lead to oil leakage onto the shaft seals. Strong wear of the camshaft itself also leads to a decrease in the life of the shaft seals.
