The stability of the transmission largely depends on the amount of oil in the gearbox. A shaft seal is used to prevent leakage of lubricant. This part is installed in a special holder located on the drive shaft.

Because of long-term operation, any shaft seal (even if it is made of very high quality rubber) begins to collapse. However, replenishing the lubricant level all the time is also not an option, since its cost is quite high. The most logical solution in this situation would be to install a new shaft seal.

Often, a shaft seal leak can be identified by the appearance of oil stains under the bottom of the car, but not always. If the wear is not very high, then the oil can settle in the body without flowing out of it. In this case, you can determine the malfunction of the seal by the following symptoms:

1. Oily clutch discs.
2. When the car starts moving, the clutch slips, but after acceleration it starts to work normally.
3. There is a smell of burnt oil.

Any of these signs is a good enough reason to contact a car service. Remember that even the slightest malfunction can lead to serious damage.
