It protects the inner side of the brake disc from dirt and splashing water from under the wheels. As you know, from the left wheel to the right (and vice versa) there is the largest flow of mud and moisture. Therefore, the inner side of the brake disc is most exposed to the environment. Without a protective cover, the wear of brake discs and pads increases several times. Sand and stones get between the pads and the A.B.S. brand Splash Panel, brake disc, as a result of which grooves appear on the disc. This reduces the efficiency of the braking system as a whole.

In most cases, the rear brake disc shield is the basis for mounting parts of the parking (hand) brake, and in the case of a drum brake, the brake cylinder and auxiliary parts (stopper springs, etc.) are attached to it.
