Their number may vary depending on whether the car is equipped with rear or front wheel drive. This part is needed in order to prevent oil leakage directly from the gearbox housing. The oil seal is a consumable; therefore, it is often necessary to replace the gearbox oil seal. Another function that puts an additional load on this element is protection against dust and dirt getting inside.

The stability of the transmission largely depends on the amount of oil in the gearbox. To prevent leakage of lubricant, an oil seal is used. This part is installed in a special cage located on the drive shaft.

Because of long-term operation, any oil seal (even if it is made of very high quality rubber) begins to deteriorate. As a result, the amount of oil in the box begins to gradually decrease, and if it is not topped up, then the moving elements of the gearbox begin to fail.
