The functionality of the manual transmission bearing

Depending on the model, several bearings are used in the gearbox, two for one shaft. A tapered roller bearing is used at one end and a ball bearing at the other. As a rule, the service life of bearings is quite long, however, situations may arise when the resource is exhausted or a part has failed due to external factors, for example, dust, moisture, grease leakage or improper pressing of the bearing.

Signs of breakdowns can be as follows:

1. hum, whistle, or noise when driving;
2. deterioration in gear shifting;
3. vibration.
