The thermostat in the car regulates the temperature of the fluid in the engine cooling system, maintaining optimal thermal conditions for operation and accelerating the initial warm-up of the engine at start.

The usage of the thermostat gasket

The gasket is a sealing element designed to seal the thermostat housing / cover. Due to its elasticity, the gasket prevents leaks and maintains operating pressure in the cooling system. Depending on the place of application and the type of thermostat, the consumable has a different shape and material of manufacture.

Each car and body type has its own gasket with a specific shape. Often made from the following materials:

1. nitrile butadiene rubber;
2. ethylene-propylene terpolymer;
3. rubber.

The VEMO brand Gasket, thermostat can be made in a more complex shape or in the form of a ring. Some models have holes in the gasket for fasteners. O-rings are installed in a special groove in the cover, after which the part is mounted and sealed.
