The door cable is a flexible piece made of metal that allows the door lock to be opened because of the driver or passenger pressing the door-opening handle. The cable connects to the outer and inner door handles.

The operation of the door release cable

The TOPRAN brand Cable, door release can be of different lengths, depending on the make and model of the car, and the design of the lock mechanism. It passes inside the door, being placed in a casing or tube, inside which it does its work by moving. Inside this casing, the manufacturer can fill in silicone or other grease in order to prevent the formation of condensation (since freezing of condensate is a common problem of part failure). But this condition is optional. Its end parts are made in the form of hooks or loops for engaging with a handle and a lock.

It may be that the door stops opening - from one side (external / internal) or from both at once. This signals that the door cable is out of order. The breakage is often visible even to the eye - the handle does not return to its original position. When you try to return it by force, the cable either breaks or jumps off the place of its attachment.

This can happen because of:

1. mechanical break - the cable breaks often either at the base of its loop / hook, and much less often in other places;
2. the rope is frozen due to condensation.
