The oil filter housing is made of aluminum and includes a filter element, as well as an anti-drain and bypass valve. Structurally, it consists of two halves with a removable heat exchanger; special threaded fasteners in the form of a six-pointed star interconnect them. A seal is located between the heat exchanger and the body, which ensures the tightness of the connections. The oil filter seal is a rubber piece that prevents engine oil from leaking out of the oil filter. It is installed on the flange (cover) of the filter and facilitates tight screwing of the oil filter onto the fitting.

The functionality of the oil filter seal

The ELRING brand Seal, oil filter housing is made of elastic rubber, which should help prevent oil leakage from under the oil filter. When installing, the oil filter must be screwed tightly in so that the oil is not squeezed out of the system.

If an oil leak is found in the area of ​​the body, then, most likely, the seal is out of order; in rare cases, the body itself may be damaged. This problem requires replacement of the filter housing; a separate replacement of the seal is usually not carried out. In this case, a new sealing ring is installed additionally. The procedure is quite laborious, after which it is necessary to measure the oil level and, if necessary, add it to the system.
