The ignition switch is part of the starting system for an internal combustion engine of cars, which is the first step when starting a car. All further actions to start the engine depend on turning the key in the ignition lock. The storage battery provides an electric current for ignition after receiving a signal from the vehicle control electronics to turn the key in the lock. A secondary function of the device is to prevent the discharge of the car battery when the vehicle is idle.

The design of the FEBI BILSTEIN brand Steering Lock
The structure consists of a lock cylinder - a key is inserted into it, also called a mechanical part; an electrical part with several contacts, the closure of which gives various commands to the car, depending on the angle of rotation of the lock in the ignition, (modern cars have 2-4 different angles of rotation, which are responsible for different functions). A blocking relay is connected to the lock, from which the solenoid goes to the starter, and the contact to the ignition and alarm goes to the other side. The mechanical part consists, in turn, of a shoe, a contact sleeve and a disc, a roller, a housing, and a locking rod.
