The basic idea is to use the heat generated by the engine when it is running. And since the heat from the engine is removed with the help of a coolant, then it will be needed for the heating system as well.

The usage of the heater hose

With the tap (damper) closed, the coolant makes its usual path: from the pump through the radiator and thermostat to the engine and back. As soon as the driver and / or passengers find it uncomfortable to ride in a cabin covered with frost, the driver will open the tap (damper) and the coolant heated to normal operating temperature (which is 85-90 ° C) will flow in an enlarged circle to the heater heat exchanger in order to give some of its warmth to the temporary occupants of the salon. In order for hot air to get where it is needed, the ventilation system fan blows air from the environment through the heater heat exchanger into the car interior through special air ducts.
