The stuffing box is an elastic rubber element designed to seal the joints of housings and rotating shafts, which operate based on reciprocating movements. Thus, the drive shaft oil seal provides sealing of the gearbox at the semi-axis shaft attachment point.

The material of the drive shaft seal

The drive shaft oil seal is made of rubber with a high degree of wear resistance. The outer part of the element is flat; the inner part has a special skirt that is in contact with the shaft. The inner ring of the part has a spring that ensures a reliable seal at the edges.

Untimely replacement of the oil seal can lead to debris and oil leakage, which can lead to breakdown of other transmission elements and more serious vehicle malfunctions.
