The main elements of a HELLA brand Warning Contact, brake pad wear In addition to alerting the driver to a worn-out pad, they can also determine the mileage remaining for the pads. These sensors are also known as two-stage sensors. They have two resistive circuits that run parallel to each other in the sensor housing at different heights. When the first circuit is broken, the resistance in the sensor increases and the system calculates the amount of brake pad wear using inputs such as wheel speed, mileage, brake pressure, brake temperature and brake duration.
