An Metalcaucho brand Oil sump is a part of an internal combustion engine used to collect and store oil. The sump is in the shape of a trough, and also serves to isolate the crankcase cavity, prevents contamination of parts from the outside, collects large contaminants that have entered the engine, and preserves oil during operation.

It is located at the bottom of the auto cylinder block (crankcase). The pan covers some parts and at the same time serves as a container for collecting oil. It is a small bath with a complex shape, repeating the profile of the spare parts located under it, to avoid contact with them (for example, the front axle gearbox).

The functionality of the oil sump

In addition to collecting oil, it has another mission - it collects small abrasive particles that are the result of rubbing metal parts against each other. The oil collected in the pallet enters the oil intake for further use in the oil system of the car. At the same time, metal inclusions settle to its bottom. Subsequently, they are removed, when the pallet is removed from the installation site, by cleaning before subsequent installation. Additionally, the oil pan protects the engine components from dirt, dust and side damage.
